Community is sustainable

Most of us no longer live in our “home town” and most likely, that town wasn’t the home of our ancestors. Today, we have online social network communities and we forge connections everywhere we move, and it’s not a bad way to live if you’re doing what you love. I’ve moved to a lot of different cities, but with an open and adaptable spirit, I’ve been able to form a community of friends and neighbors everywhere I go.

Bartering for goods and services leads to active communities. Spending time in your backyard garden leads to thriving communities. I’ve formed the most durable relationships over potlucks, picnics, gardens, and gatherings. We can better appreciate our local areas, preserve their natural beauty, and grow sustainably when are connected tribally.

The Vision & journey

I dream of starting an eco-reserve in the tropics to conserve a piece of the natural world I love. I envision combining the strengths and talents of individuals, locally and globally, to create a living sanctuary for native wildlife and humans. I’m on a journey to learn how to live in community effectively, how to grow food forests sustainably, how to lead others with compassion, and how to enjoy the music of life everywhere I go.

How do words sprout?

Here’s an analogy: think of an idea as a seed. Passion is like the sun. It illuminates, enriches, and empowers the idea to grow. Soon other ideas are planted and nourished by brilliant passion. Ideas planted together compete and make each other stronger.

From the ideas emerge words, these are the sprouts. Words expressed impeccably have the potential to grow into healthy actions. Activism, the fruit of the idea, attracts people and builds community, which work harmoniously to support each other and help new ideas and actions emerge and thrive.

Wordsprout brings together strategies, stories, news, and opinion about thinking globally, acting locally, and growing sustainably.
