How do words sprout?
Here’s an analogy. Think of an idea as a seed. Passion is like the sun. It illuminates, enriches, and empowers the idea to grow. Soon other ideas are planted and nourished by brilliant passion. Ideas planted together compete and make each other stronger.
From the ideas emerge words, these are the sprouts. Words expressed strongly have the potential to grow into healthy actions. Activism, the fruit of the idea, attracts people (animals) and builds community (the ecosystem), which work harmoniously to support each other and help new ideas emerge and thrive into words.
Words, when converted into positive action, have the power to unite us into a community. And a mindful, active community has the potential to achieve sustainable growth. We are all students of the Earth, but together we can become stewards of the Earth.
Community is Sustainable
We’ve all lost our roots in this globalized society. Most of us no longer live in our “home town” and most likely, that town wasn’t the home of our ancestors. Today, we have online social network communities and we forge connections everywhere we move, and it’s not a bad way to live if you’re doing what you love. I’ve moved to a lot of different cities, but with an open and adaptable spirit, I’ve been able to form a community of friends and neighbors everywhere I go.
Bartering for goods and services leads to active communities. Spending time in your backyard garden leads to thriving communities. I’ve formed the most durable relationships over potlucks, picnics, gardens, and gatherings. We can better appreciate our local areas, preserve their natural beauty, and grow sustainably when we do it as a mindful community, like our ancestors used to do.
Wordsprout brings together strategies, stories, news, and opinion about thinking globally, acting locally, and growing sustainably.
